Wild Birds of Ireland - Shags on Sea Cliff

Shag - A large sea-bird similar in appearance to the Cormorant but somewhat smaller in size. In the breeding season they develop a glossy green sheen to their black plummage and a crest on their forehead. They feed on fish by diving from the sea surface. Can be observed around our coast where they nest on rocky ledges and sheer seacliffs.
