Wild Birds of Ireland - Goldcrest (Juvenile)

The Goldcrest is the Ireland's smallest bird. Adults have an unmistakable yellow-orange & black stripe on the crown of their heads while their body is pale grey green in colour. Goldcrests are found throughout Ireland preferring pine woodland and gorse as habitats. They are very mobile moving quickly through branches and can be difficult to view given their size. They feed mostly on insects and invertebrates. The Goldcrest is resident in Ireland throughout the year
